A trip to New Zealand and back to work...
A very belated but happy new year from me to you all!
We're now back in the UK after a 6-week trip to New Zealand reconnecting with Dan's family and friends. Ten days ago we were on a beach in Aukland, seeking refuge from the sun in the shade of the trees and dipping into the sea to cool off and now we find ourselves huddling on the sofa under blankets and quilts to keep warm. For those of you have been, you'll know what I mean when I say my eyes could hardly take in all the beauty and for those of you who haven't been - please go if you ever get the chance (and if they ever open their borders again!). Photos struggle to capture the beauty, but here is a view from the shore of lake Wanaka on the South Island where we spent a week camping and water skiing:
And from left to right: sampling the local rose in a vineyard in Central Otago; exploring the beaches near Dunedin; and me on the doorstep of the cute cottage we stayed in Naseby, an old gold mining village up in the mountains. Don't worry...no plans to move over there...yet...;-)
POTTERY UPDATE
Just before we left in December, I shared the outcome of my first firing from the pottery pieces I'd made in the series of throwing lessons I signed up for with, Suzan, a lovely Turkish lady who runs a local pottery studio. I was thrilled to return to the news that the studio has now moved just a stone's throw away from my house into a beautiful listed building on the edge of the park and I have secured a spot in the studio to practice my new skills! So watch this space for more pottery updates and I'm aiming to launch a new pottery homeware product line in time for Christmas this year. Here's a preview of the first things I made. So much to learn and a lifetime of practice ahead of me but for now I'm enjoying drinking out of a cup, displaying flowers in a vase and burning candles in a holder all made by me!
